A life-long Gillingham supporter, Brian Moore began his broadcasting career with BBC Radio, covering the 1966 World Cup tournament as well as Celtic's historic European Cup triumph the following year.

In 1968, he was invited by Jimmy Hill, then Head of Sport at London Weekend Television, to become the host and commentator of The Big Match, a Sunday afternoon highlights show. He continued in this role until 1983 when regional football coverage on ITV ended but he continued to be the network's voice of football.

Brian presented ITV's World Cup coverage from 1970 to 1986 and continued to commentate on the tournament until 1998, as well as on every FA Cup Final from 1969 to 1988.
