Collection: Manchester City

Manchester City was founded in 1880 as St. Mark's (West Gorton), becoming Ardwick Association Football Club in 1887 and Manchester City in 1894. The club's home ground is now the City of Manchester Stadium having moved from Maine Road in 2003.

The club enjoyed a purple patch between 1968 and 1970, winning the Division One title, FA Cup, League Cup and European Cup-Winners' Cup with the help of legends such as Colin Bell, Francis Lee and Mike Summerbee.

Apart from the 1976 League Cup success, City supporters then endured a barren period until beating Stoke City in the 2011 FA Cup Final. That was followed by the dramatic finale to the 2011-12 Premier League season... With nearest rivals (locally and in the table) United winning at Sunderland, City needed to win to claim the club's first title since 1968 but found themselves 2-1 down to QPR going into injury time. It really was a case of agony to ecstasy as first Edin Dzeko levelled and then Sergio Aguerroooo secured the victory with seconds left!

History repeated itself in the 2021-22 season, as City scored three goals in six minutes to overturn a 2-0 deficit and retain the Premier League title at the expense of Liverpool. To cap it all, the 2022-23 season saw Pep Guardiola's side secure an historic treble, including the Champions League trophy for the first time.
