Collection: Middlesbrough

After losing League Cup Finals in 1997 and 1998, Middlesbrough finally secured the first major honour in the club's history in 2004 with a win over Bolton, who themselves had lost the 1995 Final to Liverpool. Steve McLaren's side were 2-0 up after just seven minutes and though Kevin Davies pulled a goal back, Boro held out to take the trophy back to the North East.

In 2006, already 2-0 down from the 1st Leg of their UEFA Cup Quarter-Final, Boro fell 3-0 behind on aggregate but produced a stirring recovery and snatched victory in the dying seconds when Rochemback's shot was only parried by the Basle keeper and Maccarone slotted in the rebound to send the Riverside into raptures! Steve McLaren's side beat Steaua Bucharest in the semi-final but lost 3-0 to Sevilla in the Final.
