Newcastle United 1969 Inter-Cities Fairs Cup Winners Teletext Mug

Aged just seventeen, Scottish-born Bobby Moncur scored the winning goal for Newcastle United in the final of the FA Youth Cup in May, 1962, before going on to make his debut for the Magpies against Luton Town a year later. As club captain, he led his side to European glory in the 1968-69 season despite the team having only finished tenth in the League during the previous campaign to champions Manchester City.

The rules at the time prevented more than one team from each city competing in the Inter-Cities’ Fairs Cup (later the UEFA Cup), so Arsenal, Tottenham and Everton missed out as Chelsea and Liverpool finished higher. Newcastle beat Feyenoord (4-2 on aggregate), Sporting Lisbon (2-1), Real Zaragoza (4-4, won on away goals), Vitoria Setubal (6-4) and Glasgow Rangers (2-0) to reach the final, where they defeated Ujpesti Dozsa 3-0 (Moncur scoring two) and 3-2 (Moncur with one) over two legs.

Glossy white finish 11oz mug, dishwasher and microwave-safe, looks great on any desk in any home, office, kitchen, workshop, studio, factory or garden.
