After a defeat at home to title rivals Ipswich Town, TV commentator Barry Davies asked Villa manager Ron Saunders if, after the loss, he felt everything was still to play for and he replied, defiantly and famously: "I think so. Do you want to bet against us?". His belief was well-placed as in the next round of matches Ipswich lost and Villa won so the race for the title tilted firmly back in favour of Saunders' side.
