Ian Wright was one of the most prolific goalscorers during the teletext era and on this day in 1997 he broke Cliff Bastin's record tally of 178 goals for the Gunners. His first took him level with Bastin after which he prematurely revealed a T-shirt saying '179 - Just Done It' but he only had to wait five minutes to officially secure his place in history with a simple tap-in and he went on to complete his hat-trick in the second-half.
