1997 FA Cup Semi-Final Middlesbrough v Chesterfield Teletext Mug

Denied a clear goal in the first half, when referee David Elleray deemed Jon Howard's shot had not bounced over the line, third tier Chesterfield had FA Cup immortality in their grasp for a few brief minutes in the second half after deservedly leading 2-0.

But 10-man Boro fought back to level at 2-2 and went ahead in extra-time only to be denied victory at the death through Jamie Hewitts equaliser. What a match! With a full complement of players, though, the Premier League team were too good for Chesterfield in the replay, winning 3-0.
