I bought three of these mugs back in 2022 as a gift for friends and family. One of those mugs – bought for my dad - was Crystal Palace’s 4-3 FA Cup semi-final win over Liverpool. Until recently, I hadn’t thought about this.

Then, after a weekend stay at my parents’ place, my dad accused me of nicking/breaking his favourite mug. A couple of questions later and it turns out he’d be using that mug every day for almost four years. Given Palace have since had some more (…proper!) success as a club, I took the opportunity to revisit Retrotext and add their FA Cup and Europa Final mugs to his collection… he’s delighted!

John was a huge help and a pleasure to speak to; although the mystery of where dad’s original ‘Palace v Liverpool’ mug disappeared to remains unsolved. Perhaps mum finally had enough. She never did like football…
