Collection: Derby County

Similarly to Bill Shankly at Liverpool, when Brian Clough took on the Derby County manager's job in 1967, the club was languishing in the Second Division. Together with his assistant Peter Taylor, he transformed the situation and gained promotion to the top flight just two years later, going on to secure the Division One title in 1972. Clough left the club in 1973 after a dispute with the board but his successor Dave McKay led the Rams to a second Division One title in season 1974-75.
